Yankees: The Yankees had to backfill Game 2 after Carlos Rodón registered only 10 outs. Jake Cousins (21 pitches), Tim Hill (14 pitches), Clay Holmes (23 pitches), and Mark Leiter Jr. is ginny and georgia renewed for season 3 (9 pitches) were all used, but an off-day between games helps. Cousins and Holmes also pitched in Game 1.
This is of particular import for the Dodgers because Shohei Ohtani, who did at least have a hit on Tuesday night, really does not look like himself this series. That shoulder is obviously bothering him; this has to be the most he has ever grimaced over a two-game span. The Dodgers may need Freeman to hit like Ohtani has all year. Fortunately, so far, he has been.

Even though he’s in the lineup, it remains to be seen if Ohtani is at the full extent of his capabilities. But either way, the Dodgers are in a great position in this Series. Both games at Dodger Stadium came down to a bases-loaded situation, and they both ended with an L.A. victory. Now, the Dodgers are just two wins away from their second World Series title in the last five years and their first in a full season since 1988.

World series game
The next batter, Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman – named the World Series MVP after his incredible series – singled to center, driving in two runs and making the score 5-3. Then Dodgers left fielder Teoscar Hernandez hit a double to center, driving in two more to tie the contest at 5-5. All five runs in the inning were unearned.
After throwing 38 pitches in the fifth and surrendering five runs, Gerrit Cole made quick work of the bottom of the Dodgers’ lineup. It appears his night is done and the Yankees will go to the bullpen with the top of the Dodgers lineup coming up in the seventh.
With the first World Series night game still months away, on May 6, 1971, the National Broadcasting Company announced the signing of a four-year contract with Major League Baseball for exclusive national coverage of games on television and radio – with the stipulation that starting in 1972 all midweek games of the World Series would be played at night.
The game saw the Pirates come away with a 4-3 win over the Orioles and even their series at two games apiece.
